Israel is a country made up of people from all over the world. While we were visiting we must have heard every possible language spoken! The official language of Israel is Hebrew; however, English is taught as a second language in the schools. Most of the young people speak English quite well. Quite to our surprise the public buses we used in Tel Aviv had drivers who did not speak or understand English. We asked the younger people on the bus to please help us as Bill and I do not speak or understand Hebrew. They were happy to do so.
