The Öland horse, from the neighboring island of Öland, was a close relative of the Gotland, but went extinct in the early 20th century. The Gotland Pony, Hucul and Konik of Poland resembles the now extinct Öland Breed. All of these breeds, it is thought, originally descended from the Tarpan.
