Egyptian Hieroglyphics Conversion Chart to English Alphabetby Debora JohnsonWhen Bill and I went to Egypt we purchased a painting done on papyrus. I asked the gentleman who was packing our purchase for airplane flight if he had anything that gave the Egyptian Hieroglyphic symbols conversion to the English alphabet. He gave me the table below and I have reproduced it on HorseHints for you to enjoy. Just for fun write your name in Egyptian Hieroglyphics. Look for the symbol that you use for each letter of the English alphabet. Draw the symbol for each letter or set of letters. For example, TH and CH sounds also have a symbol. For the "TH" sound in Thelma you would draw the "tethering rope." My name, Debora, would be: (D) Hand, (E) Reeds, (B) Foot, (O) Lasso, (R) Mouth, (A) Eagle. This site allows you to type in your name and shows you how it would look in hieroglyphics: Name in Hieroglyphics |
